Chris Hamacher graduated from the University of Wisconsin with dual degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. From there she began a rigorous career in sales working in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Chris’s first position was with Depuy Orthopaedics, where she sold replacements for hips, knees, elbows, ankles, shoulders, and fingers. She also sold trauma equipment for broken legs – pins, plates and screws. Currently with Genentech, Inc., Chris’s job is focused on sales and implementation of new technologies for helping stroke patients. Genentech is a leading biotechnology company that discovers, develops, manufactures and commercializes medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions. The company, a member of the Roche Group, has headquarters in South San Francisco, California.

Fresh out of school, Chris Hamacher landed in pharmaceuticals working with hospitals on replacement parts such as knees and hips. It meant grueling days – often hours observing in operating rooms. Now in sales for a leading international biotech company working on better processes for stroke patients, Chris’s days are still challenging, but very rewarding in seeing the outcomes for patient care. Chris takes students on a day in the life of a biotech sales rep, who’s also a “hockey mom” balancing her work on the road and life at home. (Running Time 24:02)
