Debra Rodriguez is currently a Nurse Practitioner and the Coordinator of St. Clare Healthy Living Center in Baraboo, Wis., where she leads efforts in Integrative Medicine techniques. Debra began her career in health care by earning an Associate’s of Nursing from MATC in Madison, Wis. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Nursing at Corpus Christi University and her Master’s in Nursing and her Adult Nurse Practitioner degrees from Texas A&M. Debra also received her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree at UW-Madison. In pursuing her interest in the area of Integrative Health Care, Debra has also earned several other credentials including: Certified Clinic Aromatherapy Practitioner, Certified Hypnotherapist, Laser Therapist, and training in Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. She has served as a staff registered nurse in orthopedics, emergency care and in patient education. As a Nurse Practitioner she has worked in outpatient clinic settings, emergency and urgent care and now in her role as an Integrative Health Care Provider.

The idea of combining alternative methods of treatments with traditional medicine began to emerge in the 1990s. Today the field of Integrative Health Care has opened up a multitude of new opportunities for young people interested in careers helping heal the whole person. Nurse Practitioner Debra Rodriguez shares her career story from registered nurse to coordinator of St. Clare Hospital’s Integrative Medicine efforts.
