Sharon Carl has been a Clinical Exercise Physiologist for 16 years in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at St. Mary's Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a Certified Exercise Specialist and Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine. Sharon is also a provider of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) skills through the American Heart Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Society of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Health & Rehabilitation (WISCPHR) as a regional representative. Sharon wasn't drawn to this field initially, but fell into it accidentally and has never looked back. She also holds an Associate of Arts degree from Madison Business College in Sales and Marketing and worked in customer service and outside sales for several years. Sharon lives in the country with her husband and hunting dog and enjoys bicycling, jogging and being a supportive fan of the Badgers, Packers and Brewers.

Heart Disease continues to be the number one killer of men and women. But until you know someone, maybe a family member or friend that suffers a heart attack or has open heart surgery, most people don't think much about it. It can be a life changing event for the person and family, and then what? As an Exercise Physiologist, Sharon Carl is part of a team of therapists at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison who help patients recover from a heart event.
